Laserscanning was at first mainly used in the automotive and industrial design process. Since technology keeps evolving, other potential fields were exploited like the petrochemical industry. Other disciplines like cultural heritage, architecture, civil and infrastructure are also starting to adopt this technology.

Current laser scanning technology can be divided into static and dynamic laserscanning. When the scanner is kept in a fixed position during the data acquisition, it is called static laser scanning. In cases of dynamic laser scanning, the scanner is mounted on a mobile platform and the data can be used for mobile mapping of roads and tracks.

All static applications can be roughly divided into the markets as seen in the figure below. Because of the advantages of laserscanning, other industries -not mentioned here- are also adapting. DelftTech is your partner in providing you with the relevant information to exploit if 3D laserscanning can be the solution to your problem.
